LETTER OF REBUKE TO MUSSOLINI
LONDON, May 25
■ The north Italian Communist newspaper "Unita" has published the text of a letter from Hitler to Mussolini rebuking Mussolini for invading Greece, which foiled Hitler's plan to induce Spain to enter the war against Britain, says the Milan correspondent of "The Times."
The letter, which* was found among Mussolini's effects, says that soon after reaching agreement with Generalissimo Franco for closing the western entrance of the Mediterranean. Hitler •learnt with dismay that Italy intended to attack Greece. The letter goes on: "The unfortunate beginning of this campaign encouraged the English to begin their successful Libyan offensive, which made Franco hesitate for the first time. All subsequent attempts to induce the Spaniards to enter the war have failed." .
Hitler added that he had intended to besiege Gibraltar in January, 1941, and that the overwhelming strength of his forces ensured the success of the siege.
