TRIAL OF HIROHITO
NOT ASKED BY AUSTRALIA
CANBERRA, May 25
Australia has made no recommendation that the Emperor, Hirohito, should be executed as a war criminal, the Acting Prime Minister, Mr. J. B. Chiiley, declared today. "There is not a vestige of truth in the report," he said. All Australia had done had been to submit evidence on specific crimes to the War Crimes Commission. [The British United Press earlier said that Australia had demanded the indictment of Hirohito as a war criminal and his execution as the head ot a State responsible for systematic barbarities.]
