DISEASE IN HOLLAND
Rec. 10.20 a.m. LONDON, Feb. 26. According to authentic reports reaching Belgium from the starving cities of Amsterdam and Rotterdam, the diphtheria epidemic in northern Holland is becoming more serious, says Reuters Brussels correspondent. The typhoid epidemic which raged in Amsterdam in the middle of the winter is now waning, but scabies is spreading throughout the country as a result of overcrowding, poor diet, and lack of medical supplies. Amsterdam's bread ration has again been halved, and the daily calorie ration in January was down to 620.
