COST OF PRESS MESSAGES

Senator McFarland, chairman of the sub-committee investigating international communications, told the Senate that the Government was prepared to SDofisor the creation, after the war, of a'single American overseas communications company as a means of reducing the cost of Press dispatches and also fostering world-wide freedom of news.
Senator -McFarland urged Government action which would make the cost of transmitting Press messages all over the world so low that the newspapers in all countries Would be able to' meet the cost of using a world-wide service.
