LONDON, February 5. The civil affairs section of the Allied Supreme Headquarters estimates that at least 8,000,000 displaced persons of non-German nationality are inside Germany, including the prisoners of war, awaiting rescue by the Allies, says the Associated Press of Great Britain. This figure may be even higher in view of the incomplete information regarding the number of Russian and Polish prisoners in German hands. The civil affairs section so far supervised the evacuation of 210 000 displaced persons from the combat zones in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxemburg to assembly centres in the interior of France while more than 200,000 Poles, Czechoslovaklans, Russians, and Yugoslavs in these and other centres in Belgium and the Netherlands are awaiting the day when they can go home.
