Strong opposition to the proposed erection of flats instead of houses for families by the Hamilton Borou.gh Council was expressed in a unanimous resolution of the Waikato Trades Council. It was stated that the members of the council, who advocated and supported the adopted proposal, showed a deplorable lack of vision, at least from the humanitarian point of view and preferred to adopt expedients rather than build to a plan which would provide for better domestic conditions and the social welfare of the community.
