BURGLARS BUSY
CARS AND SAFE STOLEN
CHRISTCHURCH, This Day Unauthorised visitors to the garage of the Christchurch Car Exchange, Ltd., took away a safe containing a considerable amount in cash, cheques, : and bonds, one of the firm's cars a private car, and six gallons of petrol. Entrance to the premises was gained by way of the roof. One of the sections of a skylight was prised open, and a rope secured to neighbouring premises, lowered into the garage The rope was left in position by the intruders. The safe was taken from the office and presumably carried away in one of the cars. The. cars were driven out through the main doors. -Before leaving, the thieves helped themselves to six gallons of petrol from a pump. A garage coat was also taken, and the office was thoroughly ransacked. "They even finished off a box of my wife's chocolates," said the manager Mr. J. F. Peterson. '
