WOMEN AND POLITICS
About 100 young city business, "women gathered at the rooms of the •English-speaking Union yesterday evening for the first of a new series of informal meetings inaugurated by the Wellington Division of the National Party. A buffet tea was served,' after which there was a talk by the Leader of the National Party, Mr. S. G. Holland, who was accompanied by several other members of Parliament, including Messrs. W. A. Sheat, J. T. Watts, T. Clifton Webb, W. H. Gillespie, and G. F. Sim. Mr. Sim, the member for Rotoriia, who was recently married, was accompanied by his wife. Mrs. Sim, who was formerly Miss Gertrude Wynyard, of Te Awamutu, was introduced to the gathering. In addition to, Mr. Holland's talk, brief speeches were made by the other members, of Parliament A vote of thanks was proposed by Miss Betty Hutton, and carried by acclamation. Mr. J. H. Mcllroy presided.
