WHEAT BONUS
The arrangements originally planned for the payment of a production bonus on wheat as an incentive to increased sowings next year have been varied. A statement dealing with this subject was made last week. The position as finally decided is that the present price of 6s 6d a bushel will be retained as a base, but to this will be added a graduated production bonus. The1 bonus payment on .the total quantity sold will'be Id a bushel for every. : increase of 5000 acres (instead of 10,000 I acres as previously announced) in excess of 200,000 acres sown in wheat, ;up to 220,000 acres. At. this acreage : the -.price will be 6s lOd a bushel. I Thereafter supplementary payments ] will be at tho rate of |da bushel for j every increase of 5000 acres. The ! bonus will not exceed 7d a-bushel, this : figure being reached at 250,000 acres. ;| At this acreage, or above, the price , | will be- 7s Id a bushel. The bonus will I be pajd not merely on the additional .;ncreage. but over the crop as a whole. ;;The present premiums for varieties as ! : well us. ihe monthly holding allow- ■ antjea will continue to be paid.
