• Miskolcz, which is only 20 miles from the border of Czechoslovakia and 80 miles from Budapest, stands on the .anain railway from Budapest north-east to Lwqw The capture^ of Satoralja Ujhely cuts .the other German railway communications in north-eastern Hungary; Satoralja Ujhely is on the line between Miskolcz and Uzhorod via Cop ??•i , Q on a line running from Miskolcz ■ over the Carpathians to the Polish towjn of Sanok. General Petrov's troops occupying v Satoralja Ujhely also' cut a rather roundabout railway between Miskolcz and Kosice, which is 27 mHles to the north-westward. ■
