ISLANDS ATTACKED
. WASHINGTON, Dec. 1. Army Liberators bombed two airstrips on Iwo Jima on November 28 starting fires, and also raided the island on November 29, when bombers were intercepted by four Japanese aircraft of which one was destroyed and another probably destroyed, says a Pacific Fleet communique. Mitchells on November 11 struck other targets in the Bonins and Volcanos. Bombers^and fighters attacked Japanese bases in the Palaus on November 28, hitting a radio station.
