YACHTING TRIALS

Wellington representatives in the Tauranga and Takapuna classes in the forthcoming interprovincial championships were chosen during the weekend. The Takapuna boat will be Surprise (T. Petherick and XV. Wagstaff) ' and the Tauranga entry Houdini Jnr. (W. Hayman).

Three races for Idle Alongs and X-class boats were scheduled for the weekend, but only one in each class was completed. Three more trials are to be sailed by these classes next weekend, the leading positions at present being :—X class: Kitty, 8 points, 1; Louie. 0 points, 2. Idle Alongs: Belvedere (a first and a second), 1; Pegaway (a second and a third), 2; Tornado (a first), 3. An A and B ciass keel yacht race was held from Clyde Quay Wharf on Saturday afternoon by the R.P.N.Y.C, in conjunction with the E.B.Y.C. The yachts started were Waimo Ilex, Maranui, Kotiri, Isca, and Tui. Owing to the light wind, the only yachts to cross the finishing line were Waimo and Ilex, after taking- 4hr lmin liisec and 4hr 6min 30sec respectively. As the time was beyond the limit, the race was declared off, and will be resailed at a later date.
