NEW ADVANCE IN BURMA

.■■ : KANDY, December 1. _The British Thirty-sixth Division in Northern Burma occupied Pinwe, seven miles north of Naba Junction, without opposition, yesterday, reports a Southeast Asia communique. Many enemy dead-were found. In the Bhamo area Chinese units crossed the BhamoMomauk road midway between the airstrip and the iown. On the Chindwin ifront East African:troops driving southward along the west bank of the Chindwin towards Kalewa made further .advances against Japanese resistance. ■;■.'.'

The occupation of Pinwe by British troops follows a hold-up of nearly three weeks,in their advance down the railway corridor, says a correspondent of the • Australian Associated Press.
