PROGRESS IN BUILDING

The steady | progress being made in State, housing construction is indicated in a report by the Director of Housing Construction (Mr.-.G. W.'Albertson) to the Minister of Works (Mr. Semple). The total number of houses handed over to the State Advances Corporation for , occupation was 16,612 by September 15. In the fortnight ended on that date 127 houses were handed over and 2956 houses were in course of erection, as against 2877 in the preceding fortnight. The men employed numbered 4268.
