APPEAL IN ACCIDENT CASE
Decision has been reserved by the Court of Appeal in an appeal by William Laurence Jackson, fitter, of Wei-, lington, from a judgment of Mr. justice Smith in favour;of the De.Havilland Aircraft Company, of Rongotai, following an accident" at the ' company's works in August,' 1943, when> the appellant was severely injured through being struck by a revolving propeller.
The jury returned a general verdict for Jackson and awarded him a total of £2001 damages, but1 after hearing a motion on behalf of the company for judgment in its favour or, alternatively, a new trial, his Honour entered judgment for the company. , The appeal was from this decision. . - Mr. W. J. Sim, X.C.. with him Dr. .0. C. Mazengarb, appeared for the appellant, and Mr. G. G. G. >Watson, with him Mr. W. P. Shorland, for the respondent.
mentioned' in dispatches for his ser* vice in Crete. Major Te Punga was the eldest son of Rev. H. H. and Mrs. Te Punga, of, Halcombe, and has a brother in .the Army, Lieutenant R. C. Te jPiinga, who took part in the Libyan campaign.
