ON ANGAUR ISLAND

MILITARY GOVERNMENT

Rec. 1.30 p.m, WASHINGTON, Oct. 2. A Military Government was proclaimed on Angaur Island on September 30 as the mopping up operations proceeded on Angaur and Peleliu, in the Palau Group, says a Pacific Fleet communique. A few fanatical enemy troops holed up in caves- continued to resist with small arms fire.

American' planes bombed Babelthaup on the - same day.- Altogether 9076 enemy troops were killed on Peleliu and 1075 on Angaur, while > 187 prisoners were captured on the two islands.

The communique reports air attacks on Moen and Eten Islands ■ on Truk Atoll, where 37 tons of bombs were dropped. Iwojima and Jaluit Islands were also bombed. .
