v VICEREGAL. . Government House, Wellington, . September 27. This afternoon her Excellency Lady Newall visited the Hutt Valley Women's Hostels. The Rev. F. W. Robertson, of Hastings, who has been Clerk of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church since 1936, is to retire from that position on completion of the work at the forthcoming assembly. Mr. Robertson resigned" from the Waipawa-Otane Presbyterian charge earlier this year. Mr. Oriwa Haddon, formerly prominent in Maori affairs in the Wanganui district, has been appointed organising secretary of .the Maori division of the Labour Party and of the Maori Advisory Council. He was first president of the Putiki Maori Labour Party branch. Mr. Haddon is the son of the late Rev. Robert Tahupotiki Haddon, who was general superintendent of the Methodist Maori Missions. The Rev. Mr. Haddon was one of the paramount chiefs j and leaders of the Taranaki tribes, and was a nephew of the eminent fighting chieftain, Titokowaru. " ■ ... .
