PRISON SHIP SUNK
45, NORWEGIANS LOST
LONDON, September 16. Forty-five Norwegian prisoners lost their lives last week when the German ship Westfalen was sunk by a torpedo off the Swedish coast when en route from Norway to Germany, says the Norwegian Information Office The Westfalen was transporting 50 Norwegians and a number of German army prisoners. The Norwegians were destined for a concentration camp. They included a bank director, a shipowner, and a parliamentarian. Five survivors were rescued by Swedes, including the parliamentarian and also an editor. One of several Germans who were drowned was one of the most notorious Gestapo agents in Norway.
