CANADA AND PACIFIC WAR
OTTAWA, July 26. A high naval source told the Canadian Press that Canadian naval doctors have started to study tropical diseases under the assumption that the Canadian Navy will participate in the fight against Japan. The informant acknowledged that United States naval circles desire to finish the Pacific war themselves. "They feel it is a grudge fight and- a matter of national pride to clean up the Japanese and avenge Pearl Harbour," he said. "However, the British also want to
redeem the loss of prestige suffered at Hong Kong and Singapore. "I am almost sure you will see combined British and Canadian naval forces in the Indian Ocean."
The spokesman was of the opinion that following the defeat of Germany large British naval forces would establish bases in Ceylon and Australia, with the object of regaining Burma and Malaya.
