METHODIST WEST CIRCUIT
The Rev. F. Bateup presided over the quarterly meeting of the Wellington West Methodist Circuit held at Northland recently. The Rev. C. E. Dickens was associated with him. Thp financial statement showed that over £380 had been raised in the circuit during the quarter, £91 of which was for the, Solomon Island Rehabilitation Fund. An encouraging report was given on the youth work. Youth Day services were held at each of the churches in June, and the retiring. collections on behalf of the youth department were a record, far exceeding the allocation for the circuit. Mr. J. Cable, who has been circuit youth secretary for the past* 22 years, resigned, Mr. A. G. Mackie being appointed as his successor. Mr. Cable was thanked for his untiring work for the*young people. The meeting approved the action of the circuit stewards in issuing a provisional invitation to the Rev. J. Grocott to Karori next year.
