CITY WORKS
Among works approved by the City Council last night was a swimming bath in the Marist Brothers school grounds, Tasman Street. An offer to undertake the additional work as required by the City Engineer, to provide additional water supply from Silverstream, Karori, at a cost of £3700, was accepted. Arrangements for the removal of old pine and macrocarpa trees from Wainui-o-mata were approved. Consideration is to be given in next year's estimates to the replacement of the two old caretakers' cottages there. In regard to the request of residents of Cockayne- Street, Ngaio, that the road should be made safe for bus traffic. Councillor B. Todd said that provision for transport was desirable.
