JAP ASSAULTS REPULSED

A Chinese communique .stated that a -Chinese counter-attack: repulsed the Japanese advancing towards Wensiang, 20 miles east of Tungkwan, the key to China's north-east.

The communique also reported that Chinese south of Lungling intercepted 1000 advancing Japanese. and drove the,column back to Pachuchai. The Chinese north of the Burma Road captured Kangfung, north-east of Chiangtso, drove the enemy from Nanchiakungfang and also recaptured Hungmusu.

Fighting is continuing 40 miles east of Tengchung. The Chinese are blocking the enemy's drive to Chiakungtang.
