Sergeant-Maj or Alfred Jenkins, of the instructional staff of a military unit, and well-known in Wellington sporting circles, received injuries to his back in a collision between his motorcycle and a car on the Western Hutt road at 7.40 a.m. today, and was removed to a military hospital. He was reported to be suffering from muscular strain to his back, and had a fortunate escape from more serious injury, as he was thrown heavily against a pile of timber beside the road.
