INFLUENCE CHARGED

"We arc now here to fight the issiie of whether Mr. Bonney is subject to political influence," said Mr. Cassidy, X.C.* when the'hearing of the case against Consolidated Press for alleged breaches of the censorship regulations was resumed before a magistrate in the Federal Court of Petty Sessions today. Mr. Cassidy, who is appearing for the defendant company, added: The other side says that Mr. Bonney: is not subject to political influence. We say that he is." ,+,,,. .. The Chief Commonwealth Publicity Censor,, Mr, Edmund Garnet Bonney, when cross-examined denied that he had ever been subject to such influence. No Minister of the Crown had ever brought any-pressure to bear on him, he said. It would be a grave arid serious thing if the censor allowed himself to be influenced by anybody.
