HEAVILY DAMAGED
BUCHAREST RAILWAY YARDS
Rec. 10 a.m. LONDON, April 5.
Reconnaissance photographs show that the American heavy bomber raid yesterday considerably damaged Bucharest's main railway yards, says the British United Press correspondent in Italy. A heavy pall of smoke blanketed at least one-third of the city for hours after the raid, making detailed analysis of the results difficult. Many bomb bursts were seen on the tracks, rolling stock, warehouses, and storage dumps, in the north-eastern suburbs of the city. The bombers and their escorts shot down 49 of 200 German planes which came up to meet them.
