CHARGES AGAINST ACTOR
LOS ANGELES, April 5. A jury found Charlie Chaplin not guilty of contravening the Mann Act. He was charged under the Act with taking the actress Joan Barry from California to New York for an immoral purpose. ' The Associated Press says,, that Chaplin still faces two legal actions arising from his association with Miss Barry. He is indicted, with six other persons, for allegedly conspiring to deprive Miss Barry of her civil rights by forcing her to leave Beverley Hills. Miss Barry also alleges that he is the father of her child.
