WAR SAVINGS
SPLENDID RESULTS The week ended March 31 was -the most successful war saving week since the opening of the Third Liberty Loan, said the chairman of the New Zealand National War Savings Committee, Mr. T. N. Smallwood, yesterday. All .postal districts had been successful in obtaining their quota, and 234 places, including 17 of the 18 chief post office centres, had reached or surpassed their local quotas. For the financial year ended March 31, 17 postal districts reached their full district quotas, while 169 towns obtained their annual quotas. This figure included 16 of the 18 chief post office centres. "Three months ago," said Mr. Smallwood, "only 125 places had been successful .in obtaining the proportionate amounts of their annual quotas; the' lifting of the results in the final figures to the splendid total of 169 successful towns was due to the enthusiasm and prodigious amount of work put in by local committees and organisers over the last three months. "On behalf of the Newj£ealand committee I would like to take this opportunity of thanking all national savings [ depositors, the committees, and organisations throughout New Zealand for the success they have achieved for the financial year just ended. The national" committee looks forward -with confl- , dence to their continued support." "
