ACTIVE AUXILIARY

RONGOTAI BOYS' COLLEGE

The annual meeting of the Rongotai Boys' College Ladies' Auxiliary was held in the college gymnasium recently, the president, Mrs. Buchanan, presiding over a meeting of 53 members. • ■ _ .

A very satisfactory state of affairs was revealed in the balance-sheet, the principal items being payments to the Christie Memorial Tablet (£2 2s), library fund (£2O), prize fund (£10), and Anna Renner scholarship fund (£l9B 13s), leaving a credit balance of £25 11s 7d. The president paid tribute to the work of the retiring secretary, Mrs. R. Walker, and the retiring treasurer, Mrs. B. A. Smith, and presented each of them with a bouquet in appreciation of their services. Mr. F. Martyn Renner, principal, thanked the president, officers, and conveners and their friends for their untiring efforts on behalf of the college, and delivered an inspiring address on the theme of "Service" as above all things. The1 election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mrs. Buchanan ■ (reelected) ; vice-presidents, Mesdames Knapp, Nelson,. Yeomans,' Bryant, Sterrat, Tomline, and Barr; honorary secretary, Mrs. V. E. Bradstock; assistant secretary, Mrs. Tolley; treasurer, Mrs. M. Smith; conveners, Mesdames Yeomans (Hataitai), Fox and Hurst (Strathmore), K. Smith and Curtis (Brooklyn), Masters and Wilson (Seatoun), Reid and Dobspn (Island Bay), and Yeomans (Kilbirnie).

At the conclusion of the meeting afternoon tea was. served by the Hataitai ladies.

NURSING SERVICE CAMPAIGN A good response to the campaign to enlist more nursing trainees is reported by the Director of Nursing Services, Miss J. Lambie. She said it would probably be found that the shortage of nurses had been relieved considerably. It was proposed by means of lectures to women's organisations throughout the Dominion to continue to bring to the notice of girls the importance and advantages of nursing and so endeavour to maintain the flow of recruits.
