LETTER FROM MR. LONDON The following letter from Mr. George London, Mayor of Petone been received by his mother and brother. The letter is the first received since-Mr. London was interned in Switzerland over six months ago, and is dated O?Ktte o r Switzerland to. say I am in the best.of health and all »» wel with me. Switzerland is a delightful country, and the weather this autumn better than what we have at this time of the year. I understand this.is a record season'for^ crops, and just now there is an abundance of •vegetables (particularly potatoes); and apples. Although it is getting on towards, winter, begonias continue to make a wonderful show in the window ; boxes of the houses. Nothing I have e ver se en before can'compare with the autumn tints of, the many trees dotted oni this undulating country about herd1. Have already slen Berne (the capital) .and Zurich (Switzerland's largest city). Last Sunday I went down to Rapperswit, a beautiful little pleasure, resort on Lake Zurich. Zurich, the city, is at the other end Jof the lake. I find the people very friendly. One lady, hopes to teach me German but it is by no means easy.- Some of the people speak English, but the great majouty German.' I hope you both are still well and everyone else who has so kindly asked after me from time to. time Hope to learn to ski this winter. A little bit of mountain climbing is a mere nothing to me now. .Mease give my love and good wishes to all.
