feec. 10 a.m. RUGBY, Jan. 27. In the Chin Hills area yesterday British forces engaged the enemy at several places, inflicted casualties, and are now holding Kyaukchaw, 18 miles south-east of Tamu. This brings them to or near the middle Chindwin, states a South-east Asia communique. Minor Japanese attacks on Rasabil were repulsed and progress was made south of Rekhat Chaung, ,4£ miles north-east of Maungdaw, against determined opposition. Heavy and medium bombers attacked positions near Maungdaw in strength and the R.A.F.; throughout Burma attacked enemy in-i stallations and communications with good results. One Allied aircraft is missing.— 8.0. W.
