Rec. noon. NEW YORK, January 21. "Only a hairbreadth separates final victory from defeat," said General Tojo when addressing the Diet, according to messages from Tokio. "We have improved our sea and land transportatibn, but our losses at sea cannot be minimised.
"We are speeding up shipbuilding and strengthening air protection. Japanese aircraft production doubled last year, and will be further increased." Berlin radio, when quoting To jo, said that Germany holds an impregnable position in Europe, and that JapaneseGerman unity was indivisible.
Tokio radio says that Foreign Minister Shipemitsu told the Diet that Britain and America so far had, only touched the outer fringe of the Axis defences.
