INDIAN FOOD POSITION
Bee. 1.15 p.m. RUGBY, Jan. 20. When asked in the House of Commons for a statement on the present condition of the famine areas in India, Mr. L. S. Amery said that as a result of the relief measures and the excellent winter rice crop there was no general food shortage in Bengal. The situation remained anxious as the procurement and distribution of supplies was difficult. In Deccan the scarcity conditions had practically disappeared. In the province of Travancore the position was not yet satisfactory.— 8.0. W.
