AMERICAN CONSUL
ARRIVAL IN WELLINGTON
The recently appointed Consul and Second Secretary to the United States Legation, Mr. Prescott Childs, arrived in Wellington this morning from Auckland.
Mr. Childs, who was educated at Yale, had overseas service in the last war and was later engaged in reconstructive work in France. In 1923-24 he took part in an archaeological expedition in the Near East, prior to joining the United States Foreign Service in the latter year. Mr. Childs has had a variety of appointments, including two years^spent in the American service in Berlin— from 1934 to 1936. He has also held appointments in Canton, Lisbon, Nice, and Montevideo. His most recent post was Consul at Rio de Janeiro. ; ,
Mr. Childs will be joined later in New Zealand by his wife and two sons.
