ARMY DISCHARGES
MANY MENTAL CASES
Rec. 9 a.m. NEW YORK, Jan. 5. "Mental and nervous disabilities account for 50 per cent, of discharges from the army," said Dr. George Stevenson, medical director of the National Committee of Mental Hygiene, in a speech. "It is sometimes difficult to tell whether a man should be dishonourably discharged, or whether his mental disturbances are such as to mitigate criminal aspects and classify, him as mentally handicapped. Many men need help to keep their heads above water in making the transition from civilian to army, life. The enemy is well aware of these facts and attempts to capitalise on them in psychological warfare."
