ROCKET GUN
STORY OF GERMAN WEAPON
LONDON, October 13. Austrian agents reaching Istanbul as refugees are spreading a story of the coming shelling of Britain by rocketpropelled shells from guns on the French coast as a reprisal for raids on Germany, says the Istanbul correspondent of the "Daily Express." The Austrians say that the shells contain a • very destructive explosive. They also say that pilotless radio-con-trolled stratosphere planes have been built to discharge rocket shells. Germany's best technical and chemical experts have been withdrawn from all other work to complete these new weapons by the end of October. A neutral military attache said he believed the scare story was aimed at keeping Britain and America on the defensive till the eastern front is stabilised. German propaganda had threatened the bombardment of London from the French coast last April. Neutral co-respondents recently repeated stories of a rocket-gun.
