Dear Flage,—The recent orgy of wild, tempestuous weather that Wellington has been "treated" to is fast training a civilian commando of amphibians, fit to go through fire and water ashore or afloat; rivalling the usefulness of the Waafs, Waacs, and Wrens, that now manfully perform the various duties allotted them. The amphibians "pour" from their homes dry-shod and spick and span, -"storm" a nearby tramcar, and proceed towards their respective objectives. They alight, .then battle on under their own steam, or sail of mac-, intosh and umbrella, and flow (or squelch) past armed guard, janitor, or liftman, awash fore and aft, grim and determined to reach the office electric heater to assure feet, shoes, and stockings that they were really on dry land again. Hot stuff! Where were the "gallant" marines? G.F.
