FIRES IN CITY

A fire of unknown origin caused a spectacular blaze' in a small building useds as a rubber and chemical store in Howe's Lane, - off Dixon Street, about 8 p.m. on Saturday. The building is-attached'to the premises of Al-. lan's Products, Ltd., ; manufacturing chemists, and the fire, which gave off much smoke, was beginning to spread: to the main building when the", brigade arrived and extinguished it with two leads of hose. Extensive damage was done around seat of the fire. Two small rubbish fires in- city buildings were also dealt with by.the: brigade on Saturday night by means of bucket pumps..
