BIRT—PARKER.

The wedding was solemnised recently at the Sacred Heart Church, Petone, of Alice, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. K. Parker, 29 Tory Street, Petone, to Joseph James, youngest son of Mr. and the late Mrs. P. Birt, Lower Hutt.

The bride was escorted by her father and wore a charming gown of magnolia satin. Her veil was ■ magnolia embroidered, and had} been lent by a friend. It was held in place by a halo of orange blossom, and the bridal bouquet was of orchids, cyclamen, and winter roses. The bride wore a gold sovereign brooch which had belonged to her great grandmother. The bridesmaids, Miss Eileen Loveridge and Miss Molly Wilkinson were attired in cherry velvet and georgette frocks and gold Juliet' caps. They each wore a gold cross and chain, the. gift of the bridegroom, and were attended by Mr. C. Birt as best man and Mr. B. Hamilton as groomsman. A reception was held at the social hall of the P.W.M.C, where over 200 guests were received by Mrs. Parker, who was assisted by Miss Birt, sister of the bridegroom. During the evening a dance was held, Mr. Winnie's orchestra supplying the music The bride's travelling ensemble was a grey tailored costume with navy accessories.
