CANADIAN ARMY
REORGANISATION PLAN
The reorganisation of the Canadian Army in Canada announced yesterday involves no let-up or modification in its overseas programme. A supplementary statement received at the office of the High Commissioner for Canada in New Zealand says that it simply means that the territorial defence establishment in Canada is being revised in the light of the overall military situation. Under the plan of reorganisation all men medically fit for combat service are being retained in the Army, and men in the medical categories below those acceptable for combat duties will be assigned to less active duties to the extent to which they are so required. Other men in these lower categories not so required will be discharged from the Army and made available for essential civilian service. Every man of the category suitable for operational duties will be retained. The result will be fewer and stronger units and a higher category of personnel. The reorganisation now being carried out was, of course, planned and decided upon by the Canadian authorities alone.
