JAPS FLEE TO NORTH
EQUIPMENT ABANDONED LONDON, September 13. Allied forces in New Guinea have captured the Japanese base of Salamaua. The Japanese are reported to have fled northwards, leaving equipment behind. This completes the first plan started with the landing at Nassau Bay on July I. The second objective is Lac.
