LABOUR'S RIGHT
TO FINISH WAR EFFORT
Addressing about 100 electprs of Wellington Suburbs in the Waterloo School last night, Mr. H.E. Combs, Labour, Wellington Suburbs, was accorded a very good, hearing and a practically unanimous vote of confidence in the candidate was passed. He confined his address to the exposition of three main reasons why Labour should be returned to power again. Electors, he said, were to determine who should be allowed to finish the war job. Labour had done exceedingly well so far in organising and controlling the country's war effort, and they should be allowed to complete the job. Secondly, Labour had shown by its past deeds that it was more capable than, the other parties to deal with the huge and difficult question of rehabilitation. It had extensive plans ready whicht would be improved upon as circumstances arose and these plans would entirely recondition New Zealand. The third reason why Labour should be returned to office' was because they were the best' suited to send .delegates to the peace' conference. They were a peace-loving party, and among other things which would !be discussed at that conference was [ social security. New Zealand delegates would be able to point to and fxpound a plan which had been in uccessful operation, whereas no other country would be a"ble to produce more than a plan, and few even that. As Labour had devised that successful plan, they should be the ones at the conference to explain it.
