AIR FORCE MATCH
CHBISTCHUECH, September 12
Teams from the Air Force in the South and North Islands played a poor game of Kugby yesterday afternoon, South winning 5-3. Spoiling tactics were used so much that what promised to be an attractive game resulted in a very disappointing exhibition. Aimless passing, faulty handling, and miss-kicking added to the raggedness of the play. Outstanding in the South pack were 0. S. Meads and It. Bothwell. In the North pack, which comprised mostly loose forwards, G. F. Henderson, Frazer, and Bowler were prominent. Apart from Sherlock, the North Island fullback, and J. 13. Kerr, South Island winger, the backs were not impressive. Knight scored for the North Island and Palmer for the South, Wilson converting. The play was often more than willing and the referee had several talks to the players.
