Sir, —Relative to the statement of the Mayor as published in your paper and in which he denies there has been any defiance of the order issued by the Minister. We desire to ask the I^ayor, through your paper, will he deny that he personally approached the women concerned and instructed them that they were to ignore any communication from the Man-power Officer and not to worry about being prosecuted for he could assure them that any fines incurred would be paid" by the Wellington City Council (tramways department).—l am, etc.,
