BIG CROWD FOR SECOND DAY

The second and concluding day of the Wellington Racing Club's Winter Meeting is being held at Trentham today in dull but fine weather after a heavy frost overnight. There is a particularly large attendance of patrons. Unfortunately the track was again heavy. Results: — CORUNNA HURDLE HANDICAP, £400; about 13 miles. 4_2_First Edition, 9.6 (C. With the exception of Khurja," who ran a bad race, form proved fairly reliable in the Corunna Hurdle Handicap when First Edition won narrowly but well from Moderate, who showed substantial improvement, with Colonel Bogey third. Irish Morn led for a considerable portion of the journey, but tired, as did Islay Downs. Hunting Comet fell at the second fence when m the lead. Poor visibility made it impossible to pick up the runners in the Trial Plate as they raced to the turn, but on straightening up for home Flying,, Ace was observed snowing the way to Sir Wina, with Conspicuous, Haughty Queen, and Magnus Lux heading the bunch. Over the last two furlongs Flying Ace ran right away to win very easily from Conspicuous, who was well'clear of, Sir Wina. Approaching the final obstacle Town Survey and Authoress rose together, but in the run to the post Town Survey 'finished the better to win by the best part of a length, with Talenta a length away. * Black Musk battled on for fourth. A smart jump out from No. 1 position enabled Broiveine to take up a good- position behind the pacemaker Pallid in the Seatoun Handicap, with La Fillette, Kinneff, and Valebit ahead of Socks and Josette. Turning for home La Fillette was attending Pallid but on straightening up Broiveine ran past them to win comfortably from the fast-finishing Tring, with La Fillette holding on for third. Then came Kaitoa, badly away, and Dash o* Dink on terms.
