"» The submarine was one of the navy's oldest and smallest, having been commissioned in 1919- It had a displacement of 530 tons. % Ottawa.—A Toronto war factory which is collaborating with a naval research unit has designed a device for the extraction of salt from sea water by freezing it. The machine is at present too heavy to be carried in other than regulation lifeboats. It will withstand any weather and is not affected by immersion in sea water.
