REDUCING NUMBER OP MEN (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.) (Rec. 12.30 p.m.) LONDON, April 30. Paris today is nearly deserted except for German soldiers and women in uniform, said M. Marcel Poimboeuf, a member of the French Christian trade unions, who recently escaped from France to Britain. He * added that the Germans are trying to transfer as many Frenchmen as possible to Germany, in the hope of ruining French industry and reducing the risk of Frenchmen assisting the Allies when the second front move is launched. Food ..conditions are extremely bad. and shoes and clothes must be ordered six months in advance. "The Germans at night time enter the factories and seize the machines and send them to Germany," he declared. "French prisoners exchanged for French workers are sent on leave when they arrive in France, and are liable to be called up at any time and sent back to Germany. There is very great impatience among the French masses for a second front, and if it is too long delayed there will be little or no help, because there will be no Frenchmen left."
