DANCES AND FILMS
MISSIONS TO SEAMEN
Two very pleasant dances were held at the Missions to Seamen last week. The first of these was on Monday when a,large number of visitors were entertained, variety being given to ,the evening by community singing during the supper interval. The second dance was on Thursday. Other activities have been confined to two film shows, one on Sunday and the other on Tuesday. Miss Patricia Jones. Hunterville has been the guest of Mrs. P. C. Rose, Everton Terrace. A number of friends of the mission have helped with the work of providing comforts and looking after the needs of the men and sincere thanks are extended in particular to the W.W.S.A;, of Hataitai and Thorndon, who gave gifts of vegetables, to Mr. Peach, of- Johnsonyille, who supplied meat, to the League of Mothers, of Grey town, who sent cakes, and also to members of the Townswomen's Guild, Qamaru, who very kindly sent supplies of biscuits for the men. In addition to being able to supply food, the mission has been able to supply an overseas ship with 14 bundles of magazines and to exchange 120 books. V
