GIFTS HELP SERVICE CLUBS

TO CARRY ON

The service. clubs were all. packed with men of the forces at the .weekend, ■ and', the, warm, weather had no effect on the guests' enthusiasm lot dancing. The A.N:A. Club is attracting such large crowds not only at the weekend but throughout the week, that j only the. generosity of the dub's, many friends who- sent provisions makes it possible to carry on the cafeteria ser-| vice. • Last week the club received meat from T. H. Walker and Sons (Hastings), A. H. Belcher (Hastings), and j Anonymous (Marton), hampers from the Otaki Women's Emergency Com-1 mittee and the Marton A.N.A: Helpers,! and vegetables from the Paraparaumu. Hutt; Petone, Thorndon,' arid Hataitai W.W.S.A. land groups, the Ministerial residence, 260 Tinakori Road, Mrs. Boyes (Johnsonville), and Mr. Nesbxtt (Lower Hutt). The regular cafeteria helpers had assistance during the week j from Mrs.. Peter Fraser's party,, and members of the Marsden Old Girls' | Association, the E.S.U., and th- Navy League. * • : THE CINDERELLAS. -On Friday evening at the Cinderella Club a'savoury supper was" served by Marie Wfllshe, Leithe Steel, Margaret Steel, Netta Bissette, Edna Crawford, and Joy • Chesterman. Music for dancing was provided by ' Gordon Marple. Oh Suhday evening- a salad tea was served, and the club wishes to thank the Aitken Street W.W.S.A. Land Group for lettuces and fresh vegetables provided for this purpose each-week. : After tea on Sunday, ! dance music was provided' by Mrs. Allen and her orchestra. HOME-MADE CAKES. Friends of Webby's Club] always [ supply dainty home-made cakes for the suppers at .the weekend, and on Sunday a delicious tea is prepared and served by the girls. The members, are reminded that they,must be in possession of the new membership carps, which are now available. The club is carrying oh its activities, at Miss .O'Connor's studio. 61 Lower Cuba Street. Y.W.C.A. ENTERTAINMENT. The V Forces Hospitality Club's weekend programme included the W.A.A.F. Club dance on Friday. Tea was served on Saturday and Suhday. Groups helping in the cafeteria were the Methodist ladies and the Y.W.C.A. business and professional women. Cloakroom - helpers on Saturday were a group of girls from the ' Y.W.C.A. residence. The service on Sunday was taken by the Rev. A. Fetch, and the concert arranged by Miss Esme Crow. Fine gifts of vegetables were 'received from the Paraparaumu, Khandallah, Aitken Street. Lower Hutt and Petone, and "Russell Terrace land groups: CATHOLIC SERVICES. The hostesses at the Catholic Services Club were Children of Mary Sodalities of Wellington. A fine hamper from the country full of fresh produce helped towards providing the suppers and light teas. Dancing was popular, the music being provided by the usual orchestra and club members; GUESTS GIVE ASSISTANCE. Girls on duty at the Grosvenor Club at the weekend were Misses Betty Haynes, Dawn Askew, Betty Lantz, and Margaret Cooper. On Saturday and Sunday extras were played by Private Vance Henderson, and the girls of the club were grateful also to A.C.2's' Keith Davies, Jim Blay, and Bob Campbell for their assistance.
