NO CHANGE IN BATYLEDRESS
"A short time ago an unauthorised statement appeared in the Press to the effect that a new pattern of battledress jacket (blouse) with lapels to permit the wearing of collar and tie is to be issued to Army personnel," said the Minister of Defence (Mr. Jones) today. "I wish to correct this statement and say that there is no foundation for it. and also that there is no intention of changing the pattern of the battledress." _____^
Councillor R. McKeen, who was appointed by the City Council to fill the seat formerly occupied by the late Councillor'L. S. McKenzie, was welcomed by the Mayor and councillors at the council's special meeting today.
