TRENTHAM MEETING

A LATE START MADE

Perfect conditions prevailed for the concluding day of the Wellington Summer Meeting at Trentham today, the track being firm and fast. There was a large crowd present despite the fact that the arrival of many was delayed through the train smash en route to the course necessitating the transfer of thousands of passengers. A smart beginning by Alchemy enabled him to take up the running in the Mungaroa Highweight from Gunga Din and Stairway, and the three were still prominent heading fOr home, where Nightglass came into the picture. Over the final furlong Stairway finished solidly to win quite definitely from Nightglass, with Gunga Din third, at the head of Stylosa and Alchemy. Pastmaster again ran badly.
